We have sent off monies for the purchase and land of 2 homes for Nigerian Grandmothers raising their orphan grandchildren.  And are awaiting more information on 2 grandmothers that have been turned out of their compound and will need homes.  In the Fall, we are going to team up with ACTS (African Community Technical Services) in Uganda and will be sponsoring groups (around 20 in a group) of widowed women (including grandmothers) to lease land, provide seed and tools for crops to sustain themselves and extra to sell.

 

Our group number has gone from 3 to close to 50 strong and growing all the time.  Enthusiasm and demand for the tote bags is stronger than ever and we will continue this as a fund raiser for some time yet.
